IndyCar and ALMS Qualifying Sessions at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

The Dallara DW12 made its official debut today at Mid-Ohio. It had previously been tested here last August by Dan Wheldon and last Thursday by a 24 car field in preparation for this weekend’s Honda Indy 200.

Penske driver Will Power led the afternoon practice with a 01:06:8632. Gannasi driver and 3 time Mid-Ohio winner Scott Dixon was second with a 01:07:0213. The 25 car field was within 2.0539 seconds of each other.

The ALMS qualified earlier with Lucus Luhr in the Muscle Milk Pickett Racing’s Honda Performance Development ARX-03a prototype taking the pole in P1. Dublin, Ohio based BMW’s Team Rahal Letterman and Lanigan, driver Jorg Muller took the GT Pole with a record setting lap of 1:19.298 (102.510 mph).

P2 top qualifier was Level 5 Motorsports Christophe Bouchout with a 1:13:230 (111.004mph)

Marino Franchitti set a Prototype Challenge qualifying record of 1:15.107 (108.230 mph) in PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports’ No. 52 ORECA FLM09 to take pole position by 0.082 seconds over Bruno Junqueira in RSR Racing’s No. 9 entry.

Mid-Ohio Pit Area

GT Challenge started off qualifying with a battle that saw all five cars swap provisional pole position. Green Hornet Racing’s Damien Faulker won his third class pole in four races with a lap of 1:25.130 (95.487 mph) in the No. 34 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.



The action starts at 8 o”clock tomorrow morning with Indycar morning practice. ALMS autograph session at 10:45 IndyCar Qualifying at 11:00. And the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge at 1:00 PM. Support series F2000 and the Pirelli World Challenge Championship running races in between the action.
